High ceatinine levels are often caused by the strenuous exercises, muscle injury, burns, pregenancy, etc. And high creatinine is often used as an indicator for serious kidney damages, hypothyroidism, etc.
On the other hand, low creatinine level often indicates the damages to kidneys, which can be caused by the infections, shock, cancer, and the flow of blood as well as the urinary tract blockage, etc.
The inspection of the concentration on urine creatinine level alone has not any help in the judgment of evaluating renal functions. It can combine together with another similar inspection--- Serum Creatinine so that these two measurement methods could be used as the necessary indicators for endogenous creatinine clearance rate.
As for serum ceatinine and urine creatinine the previous one is considered as more important than the latter one. The stable blood creatinine is always suggested as the sign that kidneys are functioning well. Also, experts tend to have these opinions that low urine creatinine levels are not a concern, if only the serum creatinine is normal.
